All India Bar Examination - Information Frequently asked questions

Date of All India Bar Exam Postponed (courtesy Bar Council of India website)

The last date of registration for the AIBE was November 15, 2010 and the Bar Council of India (“BCI”) has received over 22,000 applications for the AIBE. The Bar Council of India in its meeting held on November 14, 2010 has passed a resolution to postpone the All India Bar Examination scheduled to be held on December 5, 2010.

The All India Bar Exam (AIBE) will now be held on March 6, 2011.

Further, the BCI has also decided that all applicants who have filed their applications for the AIBE shall be permitted to practice law in India after furnishing an undertaking to the respective State Bar Councils (SBCs). A copy of the proforma of the undertaking will be available with the SBCs shortly (and on the BCI website), and applicants for the AIBE are required to furnish their undertaking at the SBC where they have enrolled.

The BCI also requests all fresh law graduates and newly enrolled advocates to routinely check the BCI website (www.barcouncilofindia.org) for updates and news on the AIBE, and to approach the BCI with any queries or clarifications required.
