Preface

A.P .Legal Service Private Limited is incorporated under companies at 1956 to create one of the largest E-Legal services network in the country and abroad with the base in Andhra Pradesh. The company’s objective is to provide professionalised, efficient and prompt legal service delivery structures and thereby reduce the time and expenses in transactional costs and justice delivery processes. The Information Technology through computer Internet has converted the entire world into one global market place. The barriers of distance, language and time have been removed. Every change in the global arena has its effect upon domestic markets. There is a need for updating our technology in ii production and distribution of goods and services with a suitable institutional structures to meet this new challenges. Our company is structured with the above objective for delivering legal services to the public and corporate bodies under one roof.

With new technologies of Computer Internet and Telecom, the E-Commerce trasactions in the borderless world is witnessing phenomenal growth. With the rise of E-Commerce certain legal issues are also arising such as

  • Whether a contract involving trasfer of goods and services or money transactions over the Internet will be recognized as legally valid by the courts oflaw or not, in case of any dispute as to the contract or any terms of the contract ?

  • Whether the Electronic messages received through the computer media will be legally admissible in evidence or not ?

  • Whether the Digital Signature provided by new technology is sufficient to authenticate the transac- tions ?

  • When and where the contract is formed and completed in the case ofuse of Electonic messages for the purpose of discovering the place of jurisdiction to sue?

    And there are also other legal issues in respect of Contract Law, Tort Law and Crimes. The Seminar will discuss the responses to such legal issues from the courts and the legislatures in India and abroad. It will also discuss whether the Information Technology Bill 1999 introduced in the Last Parliament Session will remove those doubts or Legal obstacles for promoting the growth of E-Commerce in India in tune with changing global market scenario or not.

    The company has thought it fit to conduct the Seminar to make the public aware of some of the Legal issues and to remove those doubts so as to facilitate the fast economic growth .
